How to Insert Content

Insert to SpeedGrader

AP supports inserting text almost anywhere in SpeedGrader, including as point annotations and assignment contents. It also includes support for 1-click commenting.

Note: AP does not support Freetext annotation in SpeedGrader.

To insert comments as point annotations:

  1. Select point annotation from the SpeedGrader taskbar. 
  2. Click in the document where you want to insert a comment. 
  3. Select the content you want to enter from the toolbar, favorites, search, or anywhere else you can access your AP content from. 

If you enable 1-click from the Lightning Menu at the top of the Toolbar or from the Extension (Gear icon > Settings > 1-click commenting) the comment will automatically be submitted. If you want to edit it you can click into the comment bubble to edit. 

If 1-click is disabled, you will need to manually click the submit button for the comment to save. 

To insert comments as assignment comments:

  1. Place the cursor in the assignment comment area.
  2. Select the content you want to enter from the toolbar, favorites, search, or anywhere else you can access your AP content from.

Notice that Annotate PRO supports entering formatting in Canvas like bold, underlining, and hyperlinks. 

Insert to Rubrics

To insert text in Canvas Rubrics, simply put the cursor in any of the text areas for a rubric and select the comment from Annotate PRO. 

Note: Rubrics do not support text formatting. Hyperlinks will be converted to plain text. 

Insert to Discussions

To insert text in Canvas discussions, simply put the cursor in any of the text editor and select the content you want to insert. Discussions support text formatting. 

Comment History

Annotate PRO allows you to optionally capture what comments you send to students both via Annotate PRO and typed directly into SpeedGrader. This content is then saved to the Comment Feed for you to incorporate into your Comment Libraries. When set to History: Student you can also see a summary of comments you’ve sent to the specific student you’re viewing.

Student History can be selected from the Extension via the Gear Icon > Settings > History or by accessing the Settings from the web editor. 

History can be set to one of three options. 

  • Off – no comments will be collected for the feed.
  • Anonymized – your content will be collected to the feed but none of it will be tied to specific students.
  • Student History – your content will be collected to the feed and student-specific history will display in Canvas.
