Canopy Discussion Detail

Discussions shouldn’t require more time spent scrolling than engaging. Canopy condenses the endless scroll of Canvas discussions into a spreadsheet-like view plus adds details you don’t see in a discussion – pending replies to you, word counts, and total replies in an individual thread.

When you select a course from the dropdown, you get an overview of all the discussions in the course. Each discussion is presented a distinct column, and hovering over the number shows a preview of the student’s post. Topic replies are the top number and replies to others are the bottom number.  

Hover over any number to preview the content and click to reply. 

Replies sent from within Canopy get posted right to the Canvas Discussion. If you need to address a matter privately you can also use Canopy to send a Canvas secure message or email to the student, without having to leave Canopy. 

Individual discussion view

Clicking on any of the individual discussions opens up a more detailed view specific to that discussion. At a glance, get an idea of how healthy the discussion is based on factors like word counts and how students are engaging. Quickly check if a student has met the minimum replies to their classmate’s count…

Sort and reply

…then select the students that haven’t met the minimum and click “Canvas Message” to message each student. Draft in bulk and the messages will be sent individually.
