Canopy Discussion Map & Workflow

Want to see how your students are interacting in Canvas discussions without scrolling, more scrolling, and even more scrolling? The Canopy Discussion Map for Canvas LMS discussions provides an interactive diagram of how students are interacting with one another. Who replied to each students’ initial post? Who are students most replying to?

Discussion Map Overview

Click the arrows to switch images. 

1. See student details, including how many words they’ve written, their course grade, and their most recent activity. Quickly toggle between students using the keyboard shortcut Alt (Option on Mac) + Shift + Right/Left Arrow. 

2. See a map of who engaged with their post and who they are engaging with. Choose between seeing only the threads the student is involved in or the entire discussion as a map. 

3. Provide assignment feedback and a grade, just like in SpeedGrader but without having to leave the discussion. 

4. See the student’s initial post and reply to it. 

5. And reply to replies they’ve made in the discussion. (To specifically filter for replies to you check out the Discussion Details view.)
