We know many Canvas users have been affected by the ongoing cyberattack-related outage affecting Instructure systems.Â
Our thoughts are with the instructors, instructional designers, support teams, and students working through the disruption and uncertainty this has caused during an already demanding part of the academic term. We are also very concerned about the potential harm caused by the threatened public release (or sale) of Canvas student information allegedly hacked by the attackers.
At this time, 11trees Annotate PRO itself remains fully operational and unaffected. Annotate PRO can continue to support annotation workflows in:

- Google Docs
- Microsoft Word documents
- Other LMS platforms outside of Canva
However, Annotate PRO depends on Canvas’ availability to be used with Canvas. We know many educators depend on Canvas daily, and we sincerely hope the ransomware attack is resolved quickly.
11trees has always believed that our best privacy approach is to store as little user information as possible. Aside from the comments and prompts educators use to respond to students and guide AI, 11trees stores no student grades or other personal data. AP’s optional History feature allows educators to save feedback provided to students in Canvas and Google Docs.
