How can I uninstall Annotate for Mac?

Okay, here’s how to get rid of Annotate lickety-split (hover over an image to see the button to advance to the next step; click an image to stop an image auto-advancing):

  • Step 1:
    Delete
Annotate from your Word / Startup folder...

Step 1: Delete Annotate from your Word Startup folder
  • Step 2:
    Quit
    Word and then restart...

Step 2: Quit and Restart Word
  • Step 3:
Click View, then Toolbars and Customize Toolbars and Menus...

Step 3: Click View in the Word Toolbar...
  • Step 4:
    Notice the shadow version
of "Annotate LWE PRO Trial" below the editable menu - this shows a user in the process of dragging the menu item OFF the menu.

Step 4: Grab and Drag the Annotate Menu off the Toolbar

Or, in plain text:

  1. Delete Annotate from the Startup/Word folder on your Mac. This folder is usually in the following location: Macintosh HD ▸ Applications ▸ Microsoft Office 2011 ▸ Office ▸ Startup ▸ Word.
  2. Restart Word. If you still see the Annotate menu alongside File, Edit etc move onto #3.
  3. Click View in the Word menu
    1. Then Click Toolbars and then choose Customize Toolbars and Menus
    2. Remove-Annotate-Menu
  4. DRAG the Annotate menu from the editable menu (that appears just below the actual menu) and drop it anywhere on a document. You’re removing it from your menu structure.
