Add-in Error – “Can’t connect to the catalog”

What to do if you are using one of our Microsoft Add-ins (Annotate PRO etc) and see this arcane message?

The “catalog” in question is the Microsoft Office Store – where our apps reside.

This is unfortunately an issue out of 11trees’ hands. One or more of the following is causing the issue:

  1. You don’t have an Internet connection (okay, probably not this but we’re trying to be thorough).
  2. Your computer and/or Microsoft account might be issued by a school or company and policy/security settings are blocking access to Microsoft Office Store add-ins. Try asking your IT department to allow you access – there are many wonderful apps in the Microsoft Office Store!
  3. Your organization’s network policies may be blocking access to the Office Store. Try accessing on a home network (with VPN off).

In our experience the second item is the most frequent. We’ve also seen school IT departments be quite friendly and interested when faculty approach them asking for access to the Office Store.
