Like a lot of bloggers and teachers interested in technology and education, we're geeks. It makes perfect sense to us to do just about everything we can with technology. We're fast with computers, and while our physical desks might be a pile of (seemingly) disorganized papers, our network drives are always immaculately organized. If our email inboxes get a bit crazed, it's only to make Xobni more rewarding to use. So we've been collecting student work in electronic format for a long time - mostly because it seems so inelegant to walk around with 100 student papers (and a pain when commuting on a bike) when we could have each students' work stored neatly in a folder on a hard drive. Then you always have access to comments and student work, can collect the work in the first place via Blackboard or similar, and don't have to worry about misplacing student work etc. etc. |
